Glasswerk’s Unmissable Artists At Reading & Leeds 2014

With Reading and Leeds Festival weekend looming we’ve put together a guide to some simply unmissable, explosive live acts who you might not have checked out before – enter with an open mind and span the genre gap to discover some incredible music to add to your catalogue of firm favourites…

Dave Hause

Ahead of his performances at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals, everyone’s favourite singer songwriter (just ask Chuck Ragan, Brian Fallon, Frank Turner, Keith Buckley and Matt Skiba) the wonderful Dave Hause should be on your radar.

Dave is performing on the Lock Up Stage at 1.25pm

Here he is covering Jenny Lewis by a lake in the Czech Republic, obviously – Kristen Stewart, Anne Hathaway and Brie Larson are just out of shot in the cabin…ahem:

Marmozets

Shortly after decimating the US on their first run in the States on the legendary Warped Tour, this frantic five piece have a huge festival season ahead of them complete with TWO performances at Reading and Leeds. Jammy buggers.

Allusondrugs

Hitting the road alongside their pals in Marmozets this October on the Big Cheese Magazine tour, Allusondrugs are kicking up quite the fuss at the moment and with good reason. Their trippy blend of psych and grunge is a different beast altogether live – watch out for shamanistic front man Jason Moules down the front.

Die Antwoord

Not for those of a nervous disposition, these South African Zef pioneers aren’t messing around – purveyors of controversial and hard hitting dance music much like The Prodigy before them, they’re set to bring their own blend of chaos to the NME stage this weekend.

Gesaffelstein

Mike Lévy, aka Gesaffelstein, is a French techno artist and DJ who’s worked alongside, and remixed tracks for, artists as varied as Tiga, Miss Kittin, ASAP Rocky and Lana Del Rey. Expect dark, pounding heavy hitters from this electronic pioneer as he smashes the Dance Stage to smithereens.

Letlive.

The saviours of modern rock music take a short break from their short break to smash seven shades of shit out of Reading and Leeds this weekend – thanks chaps. Expect a lot of sweat, Jason Butler to be flailing like a lunatic, plenty of crushing riffs and probably some intelligent pontifications on society and human nature. Lovely stuff.

Watch ‘Younger’ here:

Hawk House

This eclectic trio consisting of brother Sam and Eman and their mutual friend Demae have recently supported Action Bronson and released their debut EP, Chill Pill, which serves up slices of Golden-era boom-bap, New Orleans jazz, introspective rhythms and watertight rhymes. Top notch hip-hop.
