Introducing: Jonathan Boulet

What happens when you cross indie, garage rock and doom? Jonathan Boulet, that’s what.

In name he might sound like a certain Mr.Bublé but sonically he’s got more in line with Pulled Apart By Horses, The Horrors and Down. Okay, so the doom influence is mainly in the detuned guitars and the plodding tempo, but we just like the idea of doom garage. It’s gothic, like smoking a reefer in a graveyard and writing poetry about moss.

Latest single ‘Hold It Down’ has a Danzig-gone-Black-Keys vibe which caught our ear immediately, with the Sydney, Australia native dropping his debut release Gubba on August 25th on Popfrenzy/Caroline.

Ditching the electronica of his previous work, the self-produced new effort sounds like a scuzzy sledgehammer banging on the sewage pipes of your favourite run-down rock bar.

C’est si bon.
