Jana Josephina Releases New Single Avelanche

Following on from her acclaimed debut single I Know, which effectively introduced Jana Josephina’s electro-pop sounds to the UK earlier this year; Jana is excited to be back with her highly addictive second single Avalanche due for release on May 26, 2014.

Jana is a singer, songwriter and soon-to-be pop star from Frankfurt via Mallorca, Paris, London, Zurich and New York, whose songs could have come from any of these great cities, being a placeless sort of magisterial and melodic, icily infectious but emotionally engaging type of 21st century pop music.

Avalanche is a powerful track, evoking a spiritual melancholy together with a soaring electronic/dance melody, set alongside Jana’s distinctive vocals. The result is a powerful and anthemic track just in time for the summer!

Duncan Roe directed the impressive music video, shot in the beautiful Welsh mountains, whilst taking inspiration from European folklore. The video portrays a very powerful and emotional story – told in a series of ascending flashbacks – of hunters embarking on a journey into a spiritual mountain world where they disturb a sleeping darkness and the guardians who hold it back…

Jana wrote the melodies and lyrics herself, while the music and production is courtesy of Joe Cross who has worked with Zoot Women and successful Manchester duo Hurts.

“There are situations in life where you can be trapped in unhealthy circumstances; a terrible job, a bad milieu, a poisoned relationship or even an illness. You know that whatever the circumstances you really should leave which is not easy. Life is never just black or white, so this song is about all that grey in between which is what life is… in the end there is a kind of happy ending and a feeling of liberation.” Jana Josephina

Music is her life, but it’s by no means her only area of expertise; Jana is a single mum to her 9-year-old daughter and is an actress, too, having appeared for the last decade and a half in various theatre productions, movies and television shows in her native Germany.
