Funk rock legends Red Hot Chili Peppers have been announced as the headliners for this summer’s Isle of Wight Festival. Biffy Clyro and Calvin Harris join them at the top of the bill.
In what will be their only show in the UK and Ireland this year, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be drawing on material from their extensive 10-album back repertoire.
“To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors,” the Red Hot Chili Peppers said.
The 1975 and 80s band The Waterboys have also been confirmed for the festival, as Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro paid tribute to past Isle of Wight performers, mentioning Bob Dylan, The Who and Pearl Jam.
“We cannot wait to get back to this iconic festival and this beautiful island,” he said in December.
The Isle of Wight Festival takes place in Newport’s Seaclose Park from 12 to 15 June.
