Dan Mangan shares brand new single “Troubled Mind”

Today, Canada’s gravelly-voiced raconteur Dan Mangan has shared a gear-shifting new track & accompanying video, “Troubled Mind”, along with news of a November European tour. The tour is a co-headline with City Slang label-mate Laura Gibson, and will include a show a London’s prestigious Southbank Centre on November 13th.

Earlier this year Mangan hinted at the release of a new album when he shared the unashamedly sentimental love song “Fool For Waiting” around Valentine’s Day. This latest track shows a vastly different side to his new material, showcasing a much fuller and more upbeat sound, giving further insight into new work that lies just around the corner.

Speaking about the track, Mangan said: “Troubled Mind is about the struggle to maintain any kind of mental equilibrium in the day-to-day as we’re bombarded with the woes of the world. As the inflation of urgency increases, so does our capacity and appetite for it. I succumb to it as much as the next person. “Troubled Mind” might be my most upbeat, dance-able song, in complete contrast to the lyrics – both in denial of the troubled mind, as well as in defiance against it”.

Over the course of 10 years, Dan Mangan has gone from a bearded 20-something troubadour playing coffee shop open mic to earning top ten radio hits, scoring Hollywood films, and winning multiple JUNO Awards. “Troubled Mind” follows up 2016’s homespun EP ‘Unmake’ and 2015’s collaborative art-rock album ‘Club Meds’. In 2012 Mangan won two JUNO Awards for his sophomore LP, ‘Oh Fortune’, and his 2010 debut album, ’Nice, Nice, Very Nice’, was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize. Later this year, Dan Mangan will release his fifth studio album.
