While much of Birthmarks was born on the farm, some of the songs were conceived long before. Luke would demo constantly on his laptop, at home, on tour, in Toronto, Montreal, Midland, Australia, France, Germany, everywhere. The album was then recorded over the course of a year at Boom Box Studios in their hometown of Toronto.
