NIGHT MOVES, the word-of-mouth, strictly limited entry party run by Jane Fitz & Jade Seatle in London, is one year old on March 23. To celebrate, the pair will be hosting a party with guest XDB, on his first London gig in three years.
Resident DJ/promoters Jane Fitz & Jade Seatle launched NIGHT MOVES in March 2012. They couldn’t find any parties they wanted to go to playing the music they loved (deep house, deep techno, original electro, disco) in the way they wanted it, to a crowd they wanted to be in. So instead of moaning, they started their own party, with seasonal events in spring, summer, autumn and winter.
So far, the night has been built around the residents, who play in tandem with an invited guest. None of their guests last year, all long time friends of the residents, had ever played in London, some not even in Europe, before coming to NIGHT MOVES. Guests included Jenifa Mayanja, Hakim Murphy, DJ Spider and a live set & DJ set from 2DeepSoul.
“We have no set times and no headliners – because we want to encourage our crowd to arrive early, leave late and feel like the whole night is one fluid NIGHT MOVES soundtrack. There is no strict music policy and we never tell people what they’re going to hear. Thankfully we have already built up a loyal crowd who trust us,” says Jane Fitz.
In an effort to do something different the night is built around the residents and the emphasis is always on the party, and the crowd, not one particular headliner. “There is no guest list, nor VIPs. Door prices are kept low, it’s a private venue, and ticket-only with a strict door capacity so we don’t overfill the venue. We don’t flyer, nor advertise. We want our crowd to know that they are valued, that they are making the party, and NM is as dependent on them as much as it is the guest or even us,” says Fitz. “And most importantly, NIGHT MOVES is not some cynical brand. We’re a party, plain and simple.”
