Decade Front Man Releases Pop Punk Christmas Paul McCartney Cover

Following a year that’s seen his band grow from strength to strength and become one of the most hotly tipped pop-punk acts in the UK, Decade front man Alex Sears is showing no signs of slowing down his prolific creative output by closing 2012 with a free download of Paul McCartney’s ‘Simply Having A Wonderful Christmastime’ accompanied by a homemade video featuring a nostalgic selection of the best in retro Christmas TV ads!

Keeping all the synthy-tweeness of the original and giving it his own twist with his signature vocals and overdriven guitars, this cover is guaranteed to get you in the festive pop punk spirit this season. Released under the front man’s alias sophomore, through which he’s already released a free 3 track EP and cover of Lana Del Rey’s Blue Jeans (all still available on the bandcamp here: link ), the material sees a slight departure from the regular Decade fare and leaves him free to explore his songwriting and creative flair.

“I decided to have a crack at Wonderful Christmastime because I really wanted to do a Christmas cover and I think it’s one isn’t an obvious choice” says Alex “Plus the chords are really clever and I knew it would sound sick played as a full band. 2012 has been an amazing year for me; I’ve had the chance to play with some bands that I love and the reception we had at Hit The Deck and Slamdunk was unreal! Hopefully once the new album is out it’ll be even bigger and better next year.”

Decade play Radstock Festival on 30th March 2013 alongside The Blackout, We Are The Ocean, Yashin, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and many more to be announced – more 2013 dates TBC.
