The New Union To Release Debut Single

Fresh out of Brighton Electric Studios, The New Union release their debut single, ‘Without You’, this is guitar driven alt synth pop and can be compared to the raucous fun vibes of Splashh mixed with the more classical and orchestral feel of Clock Opera, whilst comparisons are made to Two Door Cinema Club, Maccabees and Coldplay.

The feel is bright and uplifting with a hint of joyous introspection, the content explores issues around coming of age, as they consider relationship breakups and ways forward. ‘Without You’, was produced at Bluebell Hill Studios by Ian Dowling (Adele, The Temper Trap, Kasabian) and is released 8th October on Two Sisters Records.

‘Without You,’ is an ecstatic love song, a love lost and longing, ‘Why did I come over, why do I stay silent in your bed.’ The sound still filled with positive hope and fulfilment. The feel is upbeat, spacious as the singer tries to find solace in the ending of a relationship, his concerns; when will he move on, will someone replace him before then. The sound is open, big spaces, upbeat, a sunburst twist to brighten up even the most melancholy of souls. The b side, ‘Home’, is about appreciation, finding your place, where they fit in. ‘it’s hard to stay without your faith…’ beautiful harpsichord synth strings support throughout.

The band have been together for just 18 months and this is the first material they have released. They have been touring with Clock Opera, Bastille, Slow Club, Dog is Dead and played recently at the Great Escape 2012, as well as Tramlines Festival. They progressed from a grimey studio under the train station to sessions at Brighton Electric, after being discovered by Ian Dowling. Influences include: Radiohead, Coldplay, Bombay Bicycle Club, Local Natives, Death Cab for Cutie, as well as being fans of other bands including Splashh, Toy, Of Monsters and Men, Peace, Swim Deep. They are currently preparing for 20th September at the Macbeth and their single launch for 12th October at The Fitz in Brighton.
