Jim Wallis is Looking Glass. The drummer for Americana-indie group My Sad Captains, Jim has pursued Looking Glass solo to much acclaim. He returns with free-download track ‘Stay Where You Are’ that points towards the fully-fledged future of a previously sporadic project. With a new album in the works and a complex modern-one-man-band live set up seen at work in the glorious video – that pulls together drums, vocals, as well as guitar plus Korg keyboard loops – Looking Glass’ special brand of joyous melancholia is taking new flight.
Looking Glass released the mini-album ‘Fish Fowl Flood’ in 2009 before returning with the EP ‘The First Real Target’ in 2010. The releases gained support on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music with airplay from Lauren Laverne, Marc Riley, Steve Lamacq, Gideon Coe, Tom Robinson, and Jon Hillcock. A split 7″ with Rhode Island’s Vio/Mire arrived in 2011 beginning a relationship with London indie label Tip Top. Supported by radio play from Radcliffe and Maconie on 6 Music and John Kennedy on XFM it saw the first moves in to the creative folktronicapop that develops further on this panoramic new track.
Looking Glass has confirmed a London show on September20 at the Old Queen’s Head with Elephant and Ben Thomas
