Editor's Holiday Music Picks

I don't say this lightly, but I deserve my holiday this year. If you didn't know, I'm not just the Editor of the site but I'm also a promoter and manager. Putting on over 100 shows and club nights a year tends to take it out of you, especially if you also manage three bands all on the rise with hectic touring and recording schedules.

This is the first year where I've been nervous about taking time off work, and seeing as today is my last day in the office for a whole month I thought I'd leave you with a selection of the tunes I'll be taking with me to keep my mind at bay from merchandise orders, show advances, bands dropping out of last minute gigs and the general music related chaos that consumes every waking hour of my life from day to day.

Lie back and think of England, chaps.

WHY? – Sod In The Seed
Sunshine alt-hop from California keeping me rolling on car journeys. I imagine some of these guys have killer moustaches and keep quite a few cats – that's a good thing in my book.

King Porter Stomp – Hot Coals
King Porter Stomp are an 8 piece juggernaut of funky ska based hip hop and also happen to be one of the greatest live bands ever. Of course, I did happen to be out of my brain at Glastonbury when I saw them, which helped.

Mike Viola – Lonely Boy
A legend in song writing circles, new album Acousto De Perfecto is my choice for blissed out sunshine vibes.

Ondatropica – Bomba Tropica
Taking Columbia's tropical music sound to new levels, this collaboration between Will Holland aka Quantic and Mario Galeano of Bogota's pioneering Frente Cumbiero has my toes tapping big time at the moment.

Wugazi – Sweet Release
Do I really need to explain why I love this 13 Chambers album? Listen to it! Probably the greatest mash up of all time.

Dinosaur Jr – Watch The Corners
Hazy, fuzzy rock and roll made for long journeys, beach bums and dipping those horrible pale English feet into warmer waters.

Aurevoir.
