Mostar Diving Club To Release New Album And Single

Following the successful DIY release of their debut album ‘Don Your Suit of Lights’, The Mostar Diving Club – Obi frontman Damian Katkhuda and producer/multi-instrumentalist Will Worsley – will release their second album ‘Triumph of Hope’ on September 3rd on Lucky Sixteen Limited / BMG Rights Management (UK) Ltd.

‘Triumph of Hope’ finds Katkhuda’s skill at crafting melodic gems coming to the fore, with his yearning songs often infused by a rich array of diverse instrumentation. It ranges from stripped down tracks such as the haunting ‘Train of Roses’ and the intimate ‘Echoes’ to uplifting moments of folk-pop such as ‘Give A Little Love’ and ‘To The Ocean’.

The first single to be taken from ‘Triumph of Hope’ will be ‘Broken and Borrowed’ which will also be released on September 3rd. Underpinned by an insistent rhythm and strident flourishes of banjo, ‘Broken and Borrowed’ is one of the most immediately memorable moments to be found on the album.

Katkhuda formed The Mostar Diving Club after the decline of his previous band Obi, who released two well-received albums on Cooking Vinyl and played to audiences of up to 8000 people in mainland Europe while being almost unknown at home. The duo released ‘Don Your Suit of Lights’ in 2009 after recording it with an estimated budget of £1000. Featuring material ranging from intimate guitar/vocal arrangements to richer sounds filled with brass, strings and all manner of other instruments, the album sold a few thousand copies via the duo’s official site and landed sync placements in the hit American TV shows ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Castle’, the Rachel Bilson movie ‘Waiting For Forever’ as well as a variety of major advertising campaigns.

Evidently proud of his work, Katkhuda is eager for people to hear his work in its original form: “I write albums because I love doing them, it just so happens that people buy them for adverts. That’s all well and good, but I definitely don’t make them with that in mind, I make them because I love making and writing music.”

Currently making huge progress on the third Mostar Diving Club record as well as working on a festive album, there are plans for the duo to play a special full-band show around the time of the album’s release – details of which will be announced as they’re confirmed.
