New Music – 4 June 2012

Well it’s been a quiet weekend leading up to the two day holiday, not much happening is there? Still, it gives us some extra time to check out a live band or two, or maybe just catch up on those CDs we never quite get around to playing.

There are plenty of new albums out this week despite the holiday – and a fair few old names are back on the shelves. The Beach Boys, Patti Smith and Neil Young and Crazy Horse all have new material out. At the other end of the musical scale I love Bleech’s debut Nude, which is out today.

Gary Barlow at number one in the album chart? Some mistake surely?

On the singles side it seems like a shorter list of new ones than usual for those who still buy singles. Now we are in the days of downloading individual tracks I’m not sure how relevant a singles chart actually is. Any views?

Whatever you’re up to over the holiday I hope the sun shines. And keep tuned to Glasswerk.co.uk for all of your music news and reviews.
