In At The Deep End Records have announced that Aurora have joined their roster. First spotted by IATDE supporting Feed The Rhino only 1 week ago, the label wasted no time getting the female fronted quintet signed up for an EP later this year and an album to follow in 2013.
Line Up: Jessica Calvesbert – Vocals / Josh Humphries – Guitar / Josh Moran – Drums / Luke Thompson – Guitar / Ryan Allen – Bass
If you look at the definition of Aurora you will see “a natural light display in the sky, caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms” and that just about sums it up for this female fronted quintet hailing from the Black Country.
Since only forming 4 months ago, Aurora have managed to develop a unique sound that is as beautiful as it is crushing. Sitting unsettlingly somewhere between Paramore & Bring Me The Horizon, and taking influences from the likes of Whilst She Sleeps, Of Mice & Men, Bury Tomorrow & Hands Like Houses.
Aurora's members previously plied their trade in various other local Birmingham bands, never feeling they were achieving the sound they were striving for, until, as in many cases, a chance meeting of like minds formed Aurora.
After locking themselves away in their rehearsal room, the band 3 months later were ready to record their first single 'Easily Broken' (which got 6000 views in the first week on You Tube) and start gigging.
It was obvious that the hard work in the rehearsal room and studio had paid off as after their first gig (with This Is Hell and Feed The Rhino), we noticed the bands potential and immediately offered them a place on the IATDE roster.
Aurora will be recording a five track EP in June to be released October 2012 on IATDE Records and an album is planned for the middle of next year. The band will also be playing numerous gigs in UK and Europe over the next 12 months.
