Katie Melua Releases New Single Moonshine

The second single to be released from Katie Melua’s fifth album ‘Secret Symphony’ is the Fran Healy penned ‘Moonshine’. Katie’s distinctively beautiful voice is both assured and relaxed on this lyrically playful, jazz-tinged folk song.

Secret Symphony’ claimed top ten chart positions throughout Europe on its release in March and drew praise and acclaim for the 27 year old, including from the usually shy Françoise Hardy who told Paris Match that “I listened to her albums and I fell in love.”

With an exquisite voice loved by millions, Katie sounds as expressive and tender as ever. In addition to ‘Moonshine’ and Katie’s interpretation of Hardy’s ‘All Over The World’, ‘Secret Symphony’ also includes ‘Gold In Them Hills’ (Ron Sexsmith) and a particularly poignant self-penned song ‘Forgetting All My Troubles’. Katie also teams up with manager and producer Mike Batt on ‘Heartstrings’ & ‘Lone Wolf’ and Batt contributes title track ‘Secret Symphony’, ‘The Walls Of The World’, ‘The Bit That I Don’t Get’ and first single ‘Better Than A Dream.’

Following a concert at Hampton Court Palace Festival on June 22nd and festivals on the continent throughout the summer, Katie, who has sold more than 11 million albums and is one of Britain ’s most successful artists of the last decade, will kick off her European autumn tour this year with a run of seven shows in Britain . Starting in Ipswich on October 8th 2012 and calling at London, Bristol , Birmingham , Manchester and Glasgow , the UK leg will end in Gateshead on October 16th. The tour continues across the Channel with an extensive run of theatre and arena shows throughout Europe.

Katie will be performing songs from all five of her studio albums, including ‘Secret Symphony’. As well as singing her more familiar tracks such as ‘The Closest Thing To Crazy’ and ‘Nine Millions Bicycles’, Katie is looking forward to playing the new songs: “I really enjoyed recording ‘Secret Symphony’, there is a simplicity to it that I love and the songs are beautiful to sing. Playing a song live on stage brings something new each time and it is exciting to share that unique performance, that special moment, with the audience.”
