With their highly anticipated debut album set to drop on May 28th, Colette and Hannah Thurlow, aka 2:54, are set to release the LP's lead single, 'Creeping', as premiered by Zane Lowe on his Radio 1 show last night. In addition, the band have been announced as main support to The XX on their eagerly-anticipated comeback show at London's Chats Palace on May 15th.
Fans of the band may recognise 'Creeping's malevolent melodies, as it was the bedroom Garageband demo version of the track that originally ignited attention when it was first posted on the internet 18 months ago. 'Creeping' quickly won the band converts in the likes of Gorilla Vs Bear, The Fader, NME and Vice, propelling 2:54’s name into the blogosphere and beyond.
The single/album version, realised in union by the one and only Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails etc), is a defining moment for the band. Not only the first ever fully realised 2:54 song, but the only track both produced and mixed solely by Moulder himself. Creeping is backed by an all-new unheard track entitled 'The March', a dusky, dreamy cut recorded amidst album sessions with Rob Ellis.
Along with previously acclaimed singles 'Scarlet' and 'You’re Early', 'Creeping' is a perfect taster for the darkly entrancing pleasures in store with '2:54'. In addition, returning from an exciting stretch in America which included SXSW, and a blazing UK tour last month, the band are set to play their biggest ever headline show yet, at London’s legendary Scala venue on June 7th, joined by a sterling supporting cast of both Gross Magic and Echo Lake. That show will be preceded by a special free set at London's Rough Trade East store to inaugurate the album release on May 31st.
