I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend, whatever you happened to be doing. And a four day week ahead for many of you – can’t be bad, can it?

There was a sad note for rock fans last week with the death of Jim Marshall, the man whose pioneering work in amplifiers led to his company’s products being used by many of the world’s biggest starts. I’m sure every one of you will have seen Marshall amps at a gig.

Plenty of new albums coming out this week for fans of all musical genres. We have reviews up on Glasswerk of two very different releases: Orangefarben by psychedelic folk singer Sea of Bees and Boys & Girls, the brilliant debut from Alabama Shakes (pictured). They are fast becoming my favourite new band.
