Dutch singer Caro Emerald picked up the “Best International Newcomer” prize at Germany's prestigious Echo Award ceremony.
The show, which featured performances by Caro Emerald, Lana Del Rey, Rammstein and Katy Perry is one of the biggest and most important Music Award shows in the world, next to the Grammy's and Brit Awards. After winning a “Goldene Kamera” earlier this year, Emerald is the first Dutch artist to win both awards in the same year.
Caro Emerald's hit album “Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor”, which is certified Platinum in Britain, has recently been certified Platinum by the IFPI selling over 1 million copies in Europe, making her one of the best selling female artists of 2011, next to Adele and Lady Gaga. The Dutch singer just finished a short sold out UK tour and will be touring throughout Europe for the festival season, after which she will start recording her second album.
