New Releases, 19 March 2012

I hope everyone had a good weekend – and got out to see some live music. There are a lot of bands touring right now in advance of the summer festival season, and don’t forget that pretty much every city and town has some great local bands playing almost every night of the week.

There is always talk in the media of falling album sales but that doesn’t give a true reflection of the music industry. There are so many great young bands out there who deserve your support. Keep music live!

So that’s my rant for the week out of the way, now on to the new releases. On the album side we have a review of the debut release from Aussie Steve Smyth already on the site. There are also new albums from Paul Weller, one which has been streaming on several web sites over the past week, and The Wedding Present.

Singles coming out include the excellent A Nation from The Birthday Suit, Rod Jones of Idlewild fame’s band, reviewed below, and Cold, another fine song from Blood Red Shoes. There are a few big pop names on this week’s list too.
