Boomtown 2011 has officially sold out for the third time in its three year history.
The four-day festival sells out despite an extra 2,500 tickets were released for sale last month. The 10,000 cap festival – that takes place from today at a secret location just outside of London – is double the size of 2010's event. Co-director and co-founder Lak Mitchell comments:
“We are over the moon at the support and enthusiasm we’ve had for this year’s festival. Thanks to everyone who has bought a ticket and helped keep the Boomtown dream alive! We can’t wait to open the town gates, the crew have been working solidly for the past 5-weeks to create this alternative, interactive and immersive world and now we just can’t wait to share it with everyone!”
Boomtown have also announced with a heavy heart the cancellation of Barrington Levy for the event, as the artist pulls out of a string of upcoming scheduled dates. Gentleman's Dub Club – who performed at the 2010 event to rapturous acclaim – have been bumped up the bill in response and will not headline the Lion's Den on Saturday.
Boomtown 2011 is headlined by Gogol Bordello and Bad Manners, with selected highlights The King Blues, Toddla T & Serocee, Ms Dynamite, Foreign Beggars and DJ Zinc.
