Glasgow will host a celebration of Americana music in September. The ‘No Mean City’ Festival is intended to become an annual concert series that will acknowledge the city’s close ties and associations with American roots music and heritage.
Over 50 artists will perform across six venues – O2 ABC Glasgow, Òran Mór, The Captain’s Rest, King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, Stereo and SWG3 – between Monday 5th September and Sunday 18th September.
Ron Sexsmith, Scott Matthews, Wilko Johnson, Caitlin Rose, Kurt Vile & The Violators, The Black Angels, Doug Paisley, Skip “Little Axe” McDonald, Hayseed Dixie, Po’Girl, Snowgoose, This Frontier Needs Heroes, 3 Blind Wolves, Dave Arcari and the recently-reformed Thrum (led by Monica Queen)are all part of the festival line up.
I’ve got my eyes on a few shows – look out for the reviews on Glasswerk next month.
