The shortlist of 12 nominations is chosen by an independent judging panel and provides a snapshot of the year's releases, recognising achievements across a wide range of genres.
For the first time this year, fans will be able to watch live coverage of the shortlist announcement – as the Prize's sponsor Barclaycard will be hosting a live video stream of the even on their Facebook page (link).
Lauren Laverne commented: “There’s been so much great music released this year. I’m sure the judges will have an even more challenging job than usual choosing the final shortlist of 12 Albums of the Year. It’s certainly looks like it should be a really strong line-up.”
The overall winner of the 2011 Prize will be unveiled live on BBC Two on Tuesday, September 6th.
