Word has reached Glasswerk Scotland that Aberdeen’s Northern Lights music festival has been cancelled just four weeks before it was due to take place.
The two-day festival was scheduled for the last week in July and would have been held in the city’s Seaton Park.
Acts like Example, Tynchy Stryder and Kelis were to be on the bill, with a ‘mystery guest’ – believed to be Faithless – set to headline the Saturday night. Speculation is that ticket sales were slow as fans were waiting for a formal announcement before purchasing tickets.
A short statement on the Festival’s website simply gives the facts with no explanation.
“We are very sorry to announce that the Northern Lights Music Festival 2011 has been cancelled.
“To all those that supported the festival, thank you. All tickets will be refunded at point of sale. With very best wishes, the Northern Lights Team.”
