Soft Metals, aka Patricia Hall and her boyfriend Ian Hicks, have been creating soundscapes together since the spring of 2009, after meeting at an audition and releasing that Ian's synths complimented Patricia's melody made for a perfect combination.
What began as a collaboration between songwriters soon budded into a passionate love affair. Songs quickly became secret messages, with Patricia weaving confessions of her affection for Ian into her lyrics. Their first EP – The Cold World Melts (Captured Tracks) – is a time capsule of their courtship.
This summer marks the release of their first full length, self-titled and again on Captured Tracks. A further expression of their romance, the album details their life and views two years on from their initial blossoming chemistry.
It's a positively wonderful side-story to what is some fantastic pieces of 80's infused synth-pop.
