Slime, aka 19 year old electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist Will Archer, releases his fantastic debut six track EP Increases on Tough Love Records on June 27th.
It's causing quite a stir online already, drawing comparisons to a variety of genres – and the musical innocence of The XX.
Above is “First Cape”, one of the six from Increases for your downloading pleasure.
Archer’s musical education began in his hometown of Newcastle, playing drums in various bands before starting to produce for himself at the age of 16. Exploring a variety of genres in his formative years, he quickly became bored with his approach to music, so began playing guitar and other instruments again. Re-starting his entire approach to making music, he picked up the saxophone, clarinet, piano and various guitars, collecting musical instruments and anything percussive along the way.
Moving from his North East hometown to London in late 2009, Archer met a few kindred spirits (including Vondelpark) and quickly began focusing his eclectic taste to produce the distinctively pastoral electronic sounds of Slime. Recorded at home and tweaked in the 4AD studio, the unabashedly emotional ‘Increases’ is a sonorous and deeply textured record, and reveals a striking new talent.
