Were you one of the 70,000 to brave the weather at Donington Park this weekend just gone?
By all accounts – despite the weather – it was an extremely successful Download Festival 2011, with over 100 bands over five stages.
Highlights included the return of The Darkness, who followed up their Download performance with news of a first original line-up arena tour since 2005 today – and singer Justin Hawkins proclaiming it 'the best night of his life', and System Of A Down's return to the UK after a five year hiatus – making up for lost time with a 26 song set.
Avenged Sevenfold paid fitting tribute to the sadly departed drummer The Rev at Download – which was their first festival appearance since his death.
The Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage was back for its third year, bringing with is a line up that included eight successful bands from their online platform – as well as some cherry picked from previous years. Page 44, glasswerk.co.uk favourites Don Broco, ACODA and Floods all were very well received on the stage.
Acoustic highlights from the Jagermeister stage included Bowling For Soup, Skindred, Dan Reed and Hyro da Hero.
There's a huge amount of content over at the Download website (link) – including pictures and video – for you to take a look at right now.
Stay tuned to glasswerk.co.uk this week for a detailed review of the weekend.
