Introducing: Caro Emerald

If you walk around the streets of your British town-of-choosing shouting “CARO EMERALD!”, people are going to look at you a tad funnily right now.

However, head on over to the Netherlands and proudly proclaim the same name – you'll be met with nods of approval. Big nods.

Why's that? Caro Emerald is the next Dutch vintage-pop sensation. She's spent thirty weeks – we're talking almost Bryan Adams territory – at number one over there, and she's about to explode here in the UK. Not literally. That'd be awful.

Above is a charming video of her performing one of her tracks, “Back It Up”. She's wearing a very continental hat and there's a young Elvis Costello-looking chap playing guitar with style and panache. What's not to like?

Her new single “A Night Like This” is released May 16th 2011, and her album Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor is out now.
