Unheard Pink Floyd Recordings Set For Release

The legendary psychedelic band are unveiling remastered versions of their 14 albums, as well as multi-disc sets containing alternate takes, unreleased tracks, restored live concert screen films and a live recording of the band's performance of their The Dark Side Of The Moon album in London in 1974.

The archive recordings will be released under the banner Why Pink Floyd…? and will be released on a variety of formats, including Super Audio CD and iPhone apps.

A spokesperson for EMI said: “We have worked together for more than a year on this programme which incorporates all the elements that have made Pink Floyd one of the most inspiring forces in modern music.

“Why Pink Floyd? Because their music is without equal and these exciting new releases will allow music fans to rediscover their incredible legacy and demonstrate that an appreciation for artistic quality never goes out of fashion.”

Pink Floyd members David Gilmour,  Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Rick Wright  last played together at a one off performance for the Live 8 charity event in 2005.

The Why Pink Floyd? releases will start on 26th September this year.
