Patrick Stump releases his debut solo album Soul Punk in July, and has talked about his desire to work with Kanye West.
He told BANG Showbiz: “I think I've gotten most of the dream collaborations out of the way. The only person I've never got to work with who I always thought would be cool is Kanye West. It kind of happened a bunch of times but it never really happened.
“He just always surprises me, I'm always very impressed with what he does and he is very collaborative.”
Although Patrick expects Kanye to be a “great” collaborator, he admitted some artists have surprised him in how badly they play alongside others.
He added: “Some artists don't really play well with others, but he's great. It's a learning experience because some people I've been like, 'Oh, that didn't work very well'. Whereas others I've been really pleasantly surprised with.”
Despite citing Prince and David Bowie among his musical heroes, the 27-year-old rocker confessed he wouldn’t want to collaborate with them because it would be “really scary”.
Patrick said: “To a certain extent it's actually really scary to meet your heroes so that's the reason why like Bowie and Prince aren't the list and Michael Jackson wasn't on the list. It's one of those things where I'd almost rather be a fan and not cross that line.”
