CALM, the wellbeing campaign for blokes which celebrates 10 years on Merseyside this year, launches a national partnership with TOPMAN; the official launch of RESET will see a series of live gigs which will take place in Liverpool, Manchester and London.
Liverpool RESET Launch, The Shipping Forecast, 9pm – 3am, Saturday 26th February £10 per ticket (all profits go to CALM)
The nights will play host to top DJs and local musical talent with the hope of raising at least £5000. The money raised will help CALM continue help lads sort their heads out, by funding the ongoing CALM Helpline.
Simon Howes, Development Coordinator for CALM on Merseyside said:
“The 10 years CALM has been active on Merseyside, we have used a whole host of ways to interact with lads and make them aware that when they need to get stuff off their chest, they can talk to us anonymously and in confidence. The gigs we have lined up are a great way to celebrate the partnership with TOPMAN, raise funds to keep the phone lines open and over all have a great night out.”
Performing live and headlining the Liverpool RESET gig on Saturday 26th February is Picture Book who are enjoying huge success since being signed at 2010’s Sound City, with support from Manchester’s Janice Graham Band. Taking to the decks will be Delphic, Kid British, Gareth Brooks and Funkademia with live DJ sets.
Lorne Ashley, from Picture Book said:
“We’re really looking forward to headlining the RESET launch; it’s going to be a fantastic gig. We’re strong supporters of the work CALM does so it’s great for us to be able to play a gig for them.”
CALM; the Campaign Against Living Miserably, was set up in response to the high suicide rate in young men; in the UK 3 men every day take their own life by suicide. The charity, which has played a huge part of the music scene since it launched, uses a variety of ways to communicate and reach out to young men under 35. CALM gives lads something they can identify with by promoting the CALM website and helpline in a way that reaches lads and is easy to relate to.
Simon adds:
“Music is at the heart of everything we do and what better way to launch RESET than with a night of great music. We’re really happy with the support we’ve had from the bands and DJs who are on the line up and we can’t wait for a cracking gig.”
RESET is an exploration and celebration of the psyche of the modern day young man; with articles, interviews, anecdotes, resources and reviews of everything from TV, films, gigs and games. The magazine also features practical advice and contributions from famous as well as everyday people on how they have dealt with high levels of stress in their lives, and how they turned their lives around.
Danielle Ford, Senior Marketing Manager, Topman said:
“RESET Magazine has been a significant step in helping us to communicate the many challenges and taboo issues young men will face. At Topman we are passionate in our quests to help CALM to bring down the number of male suicide incidents in the UK. Music is at the heart of all we do and we feel privileged to be a part of the RESET nights with such a brilliant line up of DJ and live musical talent.”
