Unless you have been living under a rock for the past month, like me, you will be all to aware that there is a new wave of artists emerging in 2011. The obvious talent which I was going to speak about is Miss Jessie J who has just reached number 1 in the UK charts with the excellent “Price Tag” ft B.o.B but i thought I would introduce you to another talented female singer instead.
The past week or so another female artist by the name of Skylar Gray has exploded with a massive bang on my IPod.
I have discovered that Skylar is not a new artist but she has done a Diddy and re-named herself. Alex Da Kid (real name Alexander Grant, just like me) is one of the hottest producers from 2010 has signed Skylar and given her a new lease of life and her original folk/rock vocal talents has been
incorporated into some of the biggest Rap/Hip-Hop (Hip-Pop as it should now be known) chart hits.
I first identified Skylar's vocals on the new Dr. Dre track “I Need A Doctor” which also features Eminem. I then realised I had heard
that same beautiful voice elsewhere. Did you know she co-wrote Rihanna's vocal for “Love The Way You Lie” and recorded a demo which you can find online. She also features on Diddy's latest catchy number “Comin' Home”. The best Hip-Hop track she features on however is Lupe Fiasco's “Words I Never Said”. Her voice is haunting and sitting on the train with my Studio Beats by Dr. Dre you can really lose yourself in the music for the journey, well until that homeless man with the smelly dog sits by me, which
he always does. Really look out for this girl she is going to be huge, remember i told you too.
2011 promises to be a huge year for female artists and the gauntlet has definitely been thrown down. Let battle commence!!!
