Altitude Comedy Festival Line Up Announced

Like a huge grey cloud that just won’t shift, February has descended upon us once again. But forget thoughts of gloom, guilt and detoxing, because the Volvo Snowbombing crew have got a right old treat up their parka sleeves which is sure to banish those winter blues!

Introducing (queue drums)… Altitude Comedy Festival at Volvo Snowbombing! The festival that brought you raving at 300 feet above sea level in a real life igloo, miles of powdery piste, world class DJs and bands and Hanz the butcher’s famous Wurst sandwiches has teamed up with Altitude Comedy Festival (previously in Meribel) to bring you 4 nights of amazing live comedy plus more special guests still to be announced!

Now in its 5th year, Altitude Comedy Festival will now find a brand new home in Mayrhofen and this year will take place as part of Volvo Snowbombing 2011 in a brand new comedy venue!

Volvo Snowbombing Festival Organiser Gareth Cooper “Just as I thought Snowbombing couldn’t get any funnier, we go and put the Altitude Comedy Festival straight in. This is a great step forward for Volvo Snowbombing and we are going to make sure that these comedy nights have more than a touch of the Snowbombing randomness. Joining a bulging music bill which already includes the likes of The Prodigy, Professor Green, Fatboy Slim and Chase and Status Live, Altitude Comedy Festival at Volvo Snowbombing is proud to announce an avalanche of the UK’s finest comedy talent!

First up is Altitude Comedy Festival’s Organiser and Founder, the amazing Andrew Maxwell. Having recently appeared on BBC’s Have I got News for You, ITV2’s Celebrity Juice, the Dave Channel’s Argumental and BBC2’s Mock The Week, he is quickly becoming one of the UK’s most sought after comedians. Fiercely funny and highly original Maxwell has dominated the comedy circuit in recent years and Volvo Snowbombing are very excited to welcome him and his comedy festival to the bill!

Andrew Maxwell “It's an absolute honour to have been invited to Snowbombing this year. It has a fantastic reputation for putting on some of the best parties in the snow, has great slopes and a great mix of people. I think adding a touch of comedy into this festival is going to be awesome. Can't wait to get my goggles on and get out there.”

Joining him will be festival favourite, the amazing Marcus Brigstocke. A regular on Radio 4 Marcus has appeared on Have I Got News For You, QI, Live at The Apollo and Argumental amongst others so get ready for a rib achingly funny set that’s sure to have you spitting out your jager bomb with laughter! Marvellous!

Next up is comedian, presenter, actor and owner of the finest moustache this side of Vienna, Celebrity Juice regular Rufus Hound. Shooting to fame after winning Sport Relief’s Let’s Dance dressed as Cheryl Cole, the carrot topped favourite has gone from strength to strength and will be bringing his amazing stand up (and his facial furniture) to the slopes. We can’t wait!

The amazing Tony Woods will also eloping to the mountains this April. Woods has appeared at comedy festivals around the world including the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, The Edinburgh Festival, HBO US Comedy Arts Festival-Canada amongst others. With his playful and cool demeanour and his sharp and sometimes mischievous routines, expect a show that is unmistakably entertaining at every level. You would be crazy to miss this untamed beast in action!

Also confirmed is the hilarious Craig Campbell. Once the notorious host of Canada's legendary Ed's Night Party, and headline guest on numerous Canadian TV shows such as, Jim Carrey Live, The Dennis Miller Show and Just for Laughs, this man can do no wrong. An internationally acclaimed act, Craig's whimsical travel anecdotes never fail to surprise and we are chuffed to have him on the 2011 bill!

Also hopping on the snowboard will be funny man Mark Walker who has appeared on the likes of Britain’s Most Dangerous The Jim Davidson Show (ITV), and Blankety Blank (BBC) to name a few! Mark has since been working extensively as a headline act on the comedy circuit and will be bringing his unique show to the mountains. Warm your chilly bits on that!

Joining them is comedian and actor Terry Alderton. Starring in the likes of BBC’s Michael McIntyre Comedy Road Show and SKY One’s The Match 2004, get ready to peek inside the Technicolor mind of one of Britain’s finest comedians as he treats Snowbombers to one of his satisfyingly unpredictable performances. Amazing!

All artists will be playing once-in-a-lifetime shows in the most awesome venues this side of Neptune; in huge igloos and alpine forests… on snowy plateaus and in medieval barns surrounded by the UK & Europe’s finest ambassadors of nonsense and madness. With mountains for a perimeter fence and over 150 miles of powdery piste to play on between bands!

As one of the largest and most highly regarded resorts in the world, Mayrhofen gets completely taken over for a week long party of hedonistic adventure and extreme sport.
