Hungry Pigeon Take 2011 Off To Plan Larger Scale 2012

The organisers of HUNGRY PIGEON – Manchester’s biggest city centre music & arts festival – have decided to take a year off from running the festival this year in order to expand the event considerably in 2012. After a hugely successful two years that have seen an attendance of nearly 30,000 across 2009 and 2010, the organisers of HUNGRY PIGEON will be looking to upscale the festival considerably again in 2012.

A festival spokesman said: “We've grown massively from year one to year two and felt it was important to take a year out so we could take a similar big leap for 2012. Quite simply the size and success of HUNGRY PIGEON has outgrown the organisational infrastructure within which it was being organised, so we have decided to take a fallow year to enable us to plan an even bigger and more exciting event in 2012. Hungry Pigeon is a year round organisational effort run by a team of dedicated music fans, which has seen us put some of Manchester's shining artists on such as The Travelling Band, Kirsty Almeida, Liam Frost, Kid British and many many more alongside touring acts such as Athlete and Reverend Soundsystem. We have big ideas for HUNGRY PIGEON in the future, and to realise these we need to take a year out in 2011”.

HUNGRY PIGEON would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who has supported the festival – all the bands, artists, entertainers, DJs, poets, graffiti artists and circus acts who have performed; all the venues in the Northern quarter and Piccadilly who have been involved; Manchester City Council, Henri Lloyd, Piccadilly Partnership, City Co and Visit Manchester for their continued support; and of course, most importantly, all the festival attendees who have made HUNGRY PIGEON the unique and brilliant event that it has been for the last two years.

We look forward to embracing Manchester’s amazing spirit again in 2012 for an even bigger event! In the meantime keep checking link for updates and information about our future plans!
