Tickets go on sale for the award winning festival Kendal Calling at 9am on Friday 4th February when we also reveal the first waves of acts set to take to the stage. Returning to the beautiful landscape of Lowther Deer Park over the weekend of 29th – 31st July 2011, Kendal Calling remains an intimate affair this year. With 3 days of cutting edge live music, comedy, spoken word, street performances and group games, Kendal Calling even hosts its very own beer festival! This year Kendal Calling are on the hunt for emerging regional talent; local bands and DJ’s are invited to apply to perform on one of the festivals famous stages in front of thousands of music lovers.

In the afterglow of winning the award for UK’s Best Small Festival 2010, Kendal Calling are very excited to announce that they will be back again for the 6th year with their much loved enthusiasm, independence, high jinks and innovative music that earned them the accolade. Musical highlights from 2010 include; Doves, The Coral, Calvin Harris and British Sea Power with the first of this year’s line up set to be revealed in less than 2 weeks.
Tickets for the 2011 festival will go on sale at 9am on Friday 4th February. Due to last year's sell out festival, Kendal Calling want to ensure the keenest fans bag themselves a ticket so are offering ticket buyers the deposit scheme option where £40 is paid to secure the ticket and then the rest is paid off six weeks before the festival. The music and activities in the Kendal Calling meadow span 8 diverse stages and areas, situated in a close-knit site that means you’re never far from your friends; here’s a brief tour of the fun and frolics to discover…

Mainstage – boasting a diverse line-up of the best international and national artists on the circuit in this beautiful natural amphitheatre.
GLoW dance tent – with a mind-blowing line-up of DJs and live dance acts. Showcases everything from house to disco, drum and bass to dubstep, electro to breakbeat and everything else in between.
Calling Out new music stage – the place to discover new music, rising stars and unknown gems.

Kaylied tent – featuring an eclectic line-up of folk, ska, funk & soul and world music plus a late-night intimate club vibe

Soapbox – step up for this world of comedy, spoken word, cabaret & burlesque

Kids Area – For big kids and little ones alike, enjoy workshops on percussion making and music, movement and mask making, plus storytelling and creative writing along with an array of games and activities running all weekend.

Kendal Calling Real Ale Festival returns after being hailed a huge success last year and being drunk dry of its handpicked section of local ales! The ale festival takes place in Kendal Calling very own pub The Holy Quail.
Garden of Eden – returns for its second year even more tranquil and chilled featuring therapists, shisha and chai cafe.

Village Green – A haven for happy campers from dusk to dawn. You will find delicious treats to eat, a relaxed atmosphere by day and a bustling vibe by night.

Houseparty – the ever popular Houseparty returns with tea & biscuits in the kitchen and a debaucherous dirty disco in the bedroom. No Houseparty is complete without a bit of fancy dress, which is exactly why you’ll find an entire village dedicated to fancy dress at Kendal Calling, on hand to help you make the best festival costume including Happy Slap boutique back bigger and better than ever before!

New for 2011, Kendal Calling have decided to branch out into the surrounding Woodlands for a brand new area to play host to twisted teddy’s picnic by day and ravers paradise by night. Keep your eyes peeled for much more info on this area coming soon along with more details about the 2011’s fun & games, entertainment & workshops. There is also more to come on the performance and site art with details on the handpicked market stalls & delicious food traders including the return of the popular Affordable Vintage Fair, due to be back bigger and better than before. Many more new attractions are also yet to be announced.

With the stunning stages and eccentric areas at Kendal Calling making up only half the winning formula, the other part is down to the acts performing, keep your eyes peeled for the first wave of confirmed acts to be announced very soon! But it’s not just the big named bands that get the chance to perform in Kendal Calling’s enchanted setting; the festival have always helped support regional talent and provided a platform. This year the festival would like to encourage bands and DJs from around the region to submit an application form to play at the festival. The new online application form will mean that it gives more opportunity to showcase their material. The festival has just secured a partnership with leading UK music conference Soundcity in Liverpool and is looking into future partnerships with In the City and also SXSW.

Full Adult Weekend Camping Tickets: £95 (16+. Anyone under 17 must be accompanied by an adult)
Full Adult Deposit Weekend Ticket – Pay just £40 now to secure your ticket to this year’s event and pay the balance off
11-15 years – This ticket is for anyone 11 years and older and 15 years and
Under: £50
10 and under – FREE!

Thursday Entry – This year Kendal Calling will be opening up the campsite a day early for all you keen festival goers to get in a day early! Please note this is camping only plus the Village Green area, where a limited number of food outlets will be open plus an acoustic tent. £7

CAMPING OPTIONS:
Traditional festival camping – no frills, no extra cost and for the night owls amongst you! There is also a quiet camping area for those that like their beauty sleep. Included in ticket price

Emperors Fields – Back bigger and better than last year, this much improved area will have posh showers, toilets and a campfire as well as the added bonus of camping by your car! £10 per person.

Children 10 and under are FREE! – Please note this area is all quiet camping and ideal for families.

The Lodge – For the ultimate camping experience. Prices and accommodation TBC

Campervan or Caravan fields – £50 – Park up, party on.

Coach travel is available from several UK destinations (tbc) and is provided by Big Green Coach Company. There are pickups from Penrith train station – If you’re travelling by train then hop aboard the Kendal Calling Shuttle straight to the site, and back again!
