Rising blues and country star Delta Maid will play a string of shows at new Camden venue the Wheelbarrow this February, performing every Tuesday night for the whole month.
Delta has just finished touring with the Coral and opened for Gary Barlow at his 40th birthday charity gig as well as supporting Seth Lakeman, Ray LaMontagne, Ellie Goulding and Martha Wainwright.
Delta releases her debut single, the country-fried hip shaker ‘Of My Own’ on May 1st. The album, ‘Outside Looking In’ takes its cue from Rory Block and Bessie Smith and is set for release on May 9th through Geffen/Future Records.
‘Outside Looking In’ features the sultry, laidback swing of ‘Running On Empty’ and sunshine shot of ‘Spend A Little Time’ while ‘The Changes Made’ is an album highlight, a tender acoustic ballad worthy of Dolly Parton, laced intricately with Delta’s pure mountain vocal.
From the same people that bought you Kentish Town’s now closed Flowerpot, the Wheelbarrow occupies the former site of Tommy Flynn’s pub on Camden High Street.
