‘At Home’ is the latest single to be taken from Crystal Fighters’ much lauded debut album ‘Star Of Love’. Due for release in February 2011, It demonstrates once again the musical diversity and sheer talent of this band. An album highlight and featuring the bewitching and enigmatic Laure on lead vocals this time, it showcases a much more gentle and romantic side of Crystal Fighters. Set against a musical soundbed of the band’s trademark traditional Basque folk instruments it’s beautifully euphoric and uplifting in equal measure. A perfect soundtrack for the blooming of spring, ‘At Home’ is the band’s biggest single to date and the one that will catapult them into the mainstream.
Lyrically it touches upon the confusing nature of long distance love. A girl journeys far from where she was raised to find a long lost love. Now alone, disorientated, and away from her family and friends, she ponders her moral universe, the manners and the obscure world that made her, and how far she would run to her loved-one to be sure he would never turn her away.
2010 has been an incredible year for Crystal Fighters. They have built a well deserved reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in the UK today and supported Foals on their recent tour. Their singles have been heavily supported by the key tastemakers at radio, including Zane Lowe, Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac, whilst ‘Star Of Love’ met with huge critical acclaim upon its release in September. Crystal Fighters then turned in fantastic performances of ‘Champion Sound’ and ‘Xtatic Truth’ on Later With Jools Holland in October.
With lots of exciting promotion already lined up, including Channel 4’s ‘Live @ Abbey Road,’ 4Play documentary, Skins syncs and more – 2011 should be the year that sees this band become a household name.
