The countdown continues to The BRIT Awards 2011 with MasterCard next week with the hotly anticipated announcement of the Nominations List. The nominees for the most prestigious event in the British music calendar will be revealed at an exclusive event featuring special performances at London’s Indigo2 on Thursday 13th January.
After 30 incredible years as the UK’s premiere music event, The BRIT Awards enter a new era of creativity in 2011 and the 68 nominations will reflect all that is both popular and credible in British music right now. The launch event will be hosted for the fourth time this year by Fearne Cotton, a dedicated BRITs fan and widely acknowledged aficionado of all that’s hot and not in music.
To reflect this year’s all new BRIT Awards ceremony, the launch night will also see some exciting new changes to proceedings. The night will have a completely new look and feel and for the first time, 400 invited guests will attend the event following MasterCard’s ‘Something For The Fans’ campaign. All will be treated to an unforgettable night complete with performances from Jessie J, the platinum selling Ellie Goulding with Tinie Tempah, and The Wanted.
Up and coming sensation Jessie J is the first confirmed recipient of a BRIT Award in 2011 after being named winner of the prestigious Critics Choice Award. Set to be a sure fire star in the year ahead, she is actually a former student of the BRIT school, the only free performing arts school in the UK that receives proceeds each year from the BRIT Trust, raised in part by the Awards themselves. She will be joined on the night by last year’s Critics Choice winner Ellie Goulding, who will be teaming up for an exclusive collaboration with man of the moment Tinie Tempah. The whole show will be broadcast on ITV2 on Friday 14th January at 8pm.
Prior to the nominations launch, the official brits.co.uk website will go live from Tuesday 11th January to keep BRITs fans updated will all the latest daily news and gossip in the run up to what is set to be the most exciting ceremony in the award’s history.
