The Courteeners Announce Forest Gig

The Courteeners have announced a special trip to the woods this summer when they will be appearing at Delamere Forest, Cheshire. The concert will be a local show for the band as part of Forestry Commission Live Music 2011.

Formed in Manchester in 2006, singles 'Cavorting' and 'Acrylic' released the following year captured the group's raw, jagged live sound. They were very quick to gain the attention of the music press and their debut album, St Jude, received the accolade of The Guardian's inaugural British Album Award. Along with critical acclaim the band has developed a loyal fan base and, with just one album to their name, played a pivotal concert at Manchester Central last year when all 10,000 tickets sold in just five days. Earlier this year saw the release of their second top 10 album ‘Falcon’ and this month they have released a new digital EP, 'Electric Lick'. The 5 track EP features two songs gleaned from the gold-selling 'Falcon', plus two never-before-released cuts and a cover version of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 'Zero'. The band have just completed a sell-out UK tour for December including 16,000 fans ramming Manchester’s MEN Arena.

Forestry Commission Live Music provides valuable revenue that is reinvested in a variety of Forestry Commission environmental and social projects across the country.

Commenting on the date, Liam Fray for The Courteeners said, “It will be amazing to leave the poison of the city and venture into Delamere’s leafy empire. For one special night, The Courteeners go Country. We hope you'll join us in full voice.”

The Courteeners will be performing:

Saturday 2 July Delamere Forest, Delamere, Cheshire.
Tickets cost £25.00 (subject to booking fee) and go on sale at 9.00am this Friday 17th December 2010 from Forestry Commission box office tel 03000 680400 or buy online at link
