Wretch 32 To Support Professor Green

25 year-old Jermaine Scott, aka Wretch 32, has been earmarked by the BBC as one of the 15 rising music stars to watch for their Sound of 2011 list. This follows both T4 and MTV announcing Wretch 32 as one of their 10 artist tips for next year.

Meanwhile Wretch 32 has been confirmed to support Professor Green on his forthcoming UK tour, (dates below), and to perform live alongside Katy B and Adele at Radio 1’s Festive Festival at Maida Vale on 20th December this year.

Wretch 32 is the UK rapper’s rapper. The Metaphor man – as Devlin likes to call him – has a way with words that has earned him a reputation as the best lyricist on the scene, with everyone from Tinie Tempah through to Example tipping him as the MC to watch out for in 2011. Already an underground success, Wretch has sold over 15,000 copies of his mixtapes in and around Tottenham where he grew up on the Tiverton estate, the area's most notorious patch of land next to Broadwater Farm. He has collaborated with Chipmunk, Mike Skinner and Wiley (to name a few), supported Tinie Tempah and Chipmunk on tour and appeared live at major festivals including Glastonbury and BBC Weekender. He has received heavy rotation from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, MTV Base and Channel AKA, with underground releases such as ‘Be Cool’, ‘Ina Di Ghetto’ and ‘Superhero’, and received awards acknowledging his dazzling lyricism from BBC 1Xtra, Touch Magazine and the Official Mixtape Awards.

Now, having signed to Levels Recordings, Wretch 32 is set to bring his poetic resonance and ear for infectious beats and memorable melodies, to far wider attention next year. His first official single release bears the confidence of a man who knows he’s heading for bigger, better things: Traktor, released by Level Recordings/ Ministry Of Sound on January 16th 2011 is already picking up heat at radio, ‘Traktor’ has received over 50 plays on national radio, with support from DJs ranging from Fearne Cotton and Zane Lowe through to Nick Grimshaw, Mistajam and Annie Mac.
