This year’s sixteen X Factor finalists will release a charity single on November 21st, in aid of the ‘Help For Heroes’ charity.
The finalists have recorded a cover of David Bowie’s abiding classic ‘Heroes,’ originally a hit in 1977, and will together perform the track live on the Sunday night results show on November 21st. The song will be available to download on the same day and all net record company proceeds from sales of the single will go to ‘Help For Heroes.’
The single is the third charity release from X Factor, following last year’s cover of Michael Jackons’s ‘You Are Not Alone,’ which supported Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and 2008’s ‘Hero’ which raised over £1.3 million, again for the ‘Help For Heroes’ charity.
‘Help For Heroes’ was set up in 2007, by Bryn and Emma Parry and a group of friends and relations, many of who had connections with serving servicemen and women. Bryn and his wife Emma wanted to do something to help those wounded in battle and ‘Help For Heroes’ was born. The funds raised by ‘Heroes’ will assist the charity in raising the sum of £44million required to create recovery centres for injured soldiers.
The sixteen acts performing on the single are: the boys Aiden Grimshaw, Matt Cardle, Paije Richardson and Nicolo Festa; the girls Cher Lloyd, Rebecca Ferguson, Treyc Cohen and Katie Weissel; the over 28s Wagner Carrilho, John Adeleye, Storm Lee and Mary Byrne; the groups Diva Fever, One Direction, Belle Amie and FYD.
