After releasing ‘Wonderful Life’ last month, the song that gave a first introduction to Hurts in 2009, Manchester duo Hurts announce the release of third single ‘Stay’ on 15th November from their debut album ‘Happiness’. They also announce a new UK tour in February 2011 after selling out their headline UK tour last month.
‘Happiness’ entered the UK album charts at #4 with over 25,000 sales making Hurts the UK’s fastest selling new band of 2010. They have now sold over 300,000 albums worldwide and throughout Europe, Hurts also earned 14 top 10 iTunes positions including #1s in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Finland and Luxembourg, and the album is now gold in Germany, Poland and Switzerland.
‘Stay’ has already been described by Sunday Times Culture as having ‘a chorus so overwhelming, you would be advised to reserve a space for it in your brain now’. It is a grandiose and powerful heroic pop ballad about lost love. It features a backing choir on vocals and is immediately captivating with it’s dramatic lyrics “You say goodbye in the pouring rain and I break down as you walk away”. Remixes come courtesy of Groove Armada, Full Intention and The Temper Trap.
Previous single ‘Wonderful Life’ has already had over 11million online plays and in Europe has had great success with a #1 airplay record in 5 countries to date including Germany, where the single has now sold over 300,000 copies and is certified Platinum. Their success has also been matched in Poland where ‘Wonderful Life’ is also a Gold selling single.
After their massive sold out European tour in October, along with headlining the NME Radar tour and performing at festivals across the UK, Hurts announce a new tour in February next year. This will be their biggest tour to date and the UK dates are part of a huge 2011 European tour. Tickets go on sale on Saturday 6th November at 9am via link.
