Anyone that attended a deadmau5 show this year would have experienced electrifying live renderings of material from his third production compilation album 4×4=12, due out December 6 on Virgin Records.
The Guardian said of the live show… “With respect to Kraftwerk and Daft Punk, this must be among the most visually spectacular shows in dance music history.” Whilst The Observer said… “It's the personality DJ turned into sermonising sensationalist, the decks turned into hi-tech pulpit, the performer mutating into pure illusion, a new commercial art form emerging from the smoking ruins of pop history “.
Performing in front of hundreds of thousands at major festivals and venues across the globe including Brixton Academy (3 consecutive nights), Creamfields and Cream (Amnesia), Ibiza to name a few, electronic music’s most talked-about artist and producer unveiled a wide range of new songs to accompany his roof-raising visual show.
With his revolutionary LED mau5head which flashed space scenes and robot smiley faces, deadmau5 highlighted his sets with tracks like “Cthulhu Sleeps,” “Some Chords” and the atmospheric track “Raise Your Weapon” featuring Picture Book singer Greta Svabo Bech. Also included on 4×4=12 is the deadmau5 vs. Wolfgang Gartner collaboration “Animal Rights,”. For a taster… link
The album’s next single “Sofi Needs A Ladder,” featuring spunky delivery by vocalist Sofi, made its live debut this past March at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami where deadmau5 was joined by Sofi and iconic drummer Tommy Lee in front of 50,000 fans. Virgin Records will make it available on Oct 31st. Other highlights from the album include “One Trick Pony” which Sofi also appears on and the Michael Woods remix of “I Said,” a deadmau5 collaboration with U.K. DJ/producer Chris Lake.
deadmau5 returns to the UK in December to embark on his biggest tour to date, and will be making history as he becomes the first ever electronic artiste to headline London’s legendary Earls Court, following in the footsteps of Oasis, Pink Floyd and Madonna. He continues to push the boundaries of electronic music, and this tour will be no exception. It kicks off on 8th December with him performing in Bournemouth, Leeds, Manchester, Coventry, Glasgow and will culminate in an unprecedented show in Earls Court. Joining deadmau5 as support on what is set to be THE biggest electronic music tour of the year is BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, dubstep trio Magnetic Man, Calvin Harris (DJ Set) and Stanton Warriors, with highlights of the Glasgow leg of the tour broadcast live on BBC Radio 1.
In other news, MTV invited deadmau5 to serve as the house artist for the “2010 Video Music Awards”. The mau5 served as the musical maestro for the duration of the show and created original remixes from a variety of artists. Additionally, deadmau5 is starring as an in-game playable character, in Activision Publishing Inc.’s DJ Hero 2. His smash #1 Billboard single “Ghosts ‘n Stuff”, which appeared on his last album 'For Lack of a Better Name', is also included on the game’s soundtrack.
