Following Octobers explosive Standby Launch Party, the next instalment on 4th November guarantees a firecracker of a line up with a Headline DJ set from BBC Radio 1’s very own Jaguar Skills – Mark Ronson, Lupe Fiasco, Trevor Nelson and Chris Moyles are all keen admirers of the original Ninja and the rise of this ground-breaking artist has been widely followed. One of Jaguar Skills finest moments was when he created the Mixtape “1979-2006: A Hip-Hop Odyssey – 800 Tracks In 45 Minutes”. A ground breaking project, he mixed every Hip-Hop hit from 1979 to 2006, and played them in order of their release. After only one month this monstrous mix had been downloaded over a MILLION times; played twice in a row on Mistajam's BBC 1xtra show and Radio 1’s Colin Murray showcased sections of the Mixtape every week on his show for a staggering 10 weeks. Jaguar Skills has rocked Glastonbury, Bestival, V Festival, Isle of Wight Festival, Snowbombing, T in the Park and is resident at Gatecrasher.
Standby’s November Headline Live Act; The Correspondents have been a favourite of the 2010 festival scene, you may have caught their high octane, dancefloor filling sets at Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Bestival, Lovebox or The Big Chill. They have been tinkering with the sounds of Hip Hop, Jazz, Drum 'n' Bass, Breaks & Funk, all to rave reviews. The London based cads are far from your usual hip hop band, playing their own breed of hip hop and big band tunes with modern drum loops, unique Noel Coward style vocals and witty lyrics, including an excellent version of the Jungle Book track “I Wanna Be Like You”
Standby also welcomes, Parker, if Knighthoods were given out for contributions to crowd rocking; Parker would be curtseying in front of the Queen! Plaudits range from Massive Attack to DJ Yoda. Parker is the DJ who’s Dubstep remix of James Brown's 'It's a Man's World' reached No1 in the Hype Machine Chart. Parker's Crack House remix of Max Sedgley and Glitch Hop collabo with Finley Quay further showed his versatility and confirmed him as a hit with national taste-makers at BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss, 6Music and XFM.
Also on the Standby live stage are –Young Fathers. A Glorious Mess combining Rap, Pop, Dub, Electronic and Incidental sounds. They released their debut single “Straight Back On It” in December 2008 to much acclaim… “This starts like the most moody of minimal tracks before blowing up into the biggest party hit since ‘Thriller’ dropped” – NME
