The 27-year-old singer – who is believed to have recently reunited with her film director boyfriend Reg Traviss – admits she has started getting broody, but doesn’t plan to have a child of her own in the immediate future.
She said: “I'm of the age when you start thinking about it – not seriously, but you start thinking about having kids. Although I'm not going to be getting pregnant in the next nine months!”
Instead, Amy spends time with her young godchildren and relatives when she has thoughts about becoming a mum.
She explained to Britain’s Glamour magazine: “I recently watched 'Toy Story 3' with my godson Theo, who's five. It was fun. But right now I'm happy to be the godmum or the fun auntie.”
The ‘Rehab’ singer has had a difficult few months, which may have influenced her decision to wait before starting a family.
She and 'Psychosis' director Reg have had a difficult spell, after it was reported he was still romancing his ex-girlfriend Raven.
Amy and Reg first got together earlier this year, while she was seemingly spending time with her ex-husband Blake Fielder Civil – who she has always had a complicated relationship with.
The couple appeared to be very settled, and her dad Mitch even praised the filmmaker for looking after his daughter and keeping her out of trouble.
But after their recent troubles, friends of the couple admitted Amy was desperate to settle down with a “normal guy”.
A friend recently said: “She just really wants to find a normal guy to settle down with and have a baby.
“She'd be more than happy to go out with someone away from the limelight – she is just fed up of being alone. She'd date a builder or painter and decorator, someone who's kind and funny.”
