Full Swn Festival Line Up Announced

Ready? Take a breath. This is massive. With just under a month to go SWN Festival completes its line up for this year's event with the addition of enough bands and DJS to take the tally of acts to over 150. Further, we unveil a full schedule of who is playing which venue and at what time over the evenings of Thursday 21st, Friday 22nd and the day and night of Saturday 23rd October. We have to admit, we're pretty ruddy proud of this line up.

By now you should know the score. You buy a one-day or 3-day wristband and then run around to as many shows as you possibly can. The schedule will help you plot your route – will you zip between buildings or stay in one place? The proximity of most should allow you to move around a bit. If you're down at Chapter Arts Centre there's two stages to move between to keep you entertained, or at the other side of town it's a short walk from Buffalo to Cardiff Arts Institute, so you could keep in one area, or, like some, you might jump on your bike or in a cab to zip about from one side to the other.

For a few shows you don't need a wristband and instead you buy a ticket like you would a normal gig – that's SWANS, BRYN FON and PAUL HEATON, plus the special Under 18s welsh language event DAN OED and the U18s DJ event with Aled from Kids IN Glass Houses vs Sean from The Blackout. At the Closing Party Silent Disco your wristband gets you in, but there's also some tickets on sale for those who don't have a wristband. One heads up – SWANS are playing nice and late on the Saturday night, so we've a special SWANS bundle for those who want to go to the wristbanded shows and then go on to SWANS afterwards. We hope we've got it all covered…

There's a lot to take in. We've put a lot of work in to this… we hope you enjoy SWN Festival 2010..

Over 150 bands in venues across Cardiff over the evenings of Thursday 21st October, Friday 22nd October and through the afternoon and evening of Saturday 23rd October, finishing with a massive Silent Disco closing party that night.

At SWN Festival 2010 we are changing things slightly to previous years, so please pay attention.

STROLLER WRISTBANDS

Stroller wristbands, like previous years, get you free priority access to all the shows in what we’ve now named our Stroller Area. The stroller area covers the stages at Dempseys, Clwb Ifor Bach (upstairs and downstairs), Y Fuwch Goch, The Model Inn (upstairs and downstairs), Undertone, Cardiff Arts Institute, Buffalo Bar and Chapter Arts Centre (there’s several stages here). As some of our venues are a little further out, or the bands are much bigger, we’ve ticketed them as you would a normal show. This way you’re guaranteed entry (subject to the usual conditions). We’ve worked on the feedback from last year – that in travelling out further to a show people wanted to be assured entry. So this change fixes that. It also means that if you only want to dip into SWN Festival for one of the bigger shows then you can, in the same way the day stroller wristbands allow people to come for just one day if they can’t make all three. We hope you like the development.

Also, a couple of events are only open to wristband holders – they are all marked on the schedule at link and entry to our opening party on Mon 18th Oct with TORO Y MOI at Cardiff Arts Institute, and our alldayer closing party DIMSWN at Gwdihw on Sun 24th Oct are both free with any SWN Wristbands (or £5 otherwise)…
