Katy Perry has mocked her ‘Sesame Street’ axing by appearing in a breast-baring Elmo T-shirt on ‘Saturday Night Live’.
The pop star – whose segment for the children's TV show was cut when parents complained the low-cut yellow dress she was wearing revealed too much cleavage and was unsuitable for young viewers – appeared in a sketch on the US comedy series wearing a low-cut top inspired by the red puppet and tiny plaid skirt.
Katy played a volunteer librarian, named Maureen Dichico, whose large breasts were causing a stir at the local library.
Parodying the famous announcement at the end of each 'Sesame Street' episode which reveals what letters and numbers featured in the day's programme, Katy’s sketch co-star Amy Poehler quipped: “Looks like today’s show is brought to you by the number 38 and the letters DD.”
She added: “You do your thing at the library. The kids come for the boobs, they stay for the books, everybody wins.”
Maya Rudolph’s character also jokingly came to Katy’s defence saying: “Who cares if kids are looking at boobs, all right? Boobs feed babies.”
After hearing of her axing the ‘Teenage Dreams’ hitmaker tweeted: “Wow, looks like my play date with Elmo has been cut short!”
The sexy singer's fiance Russell Brand also took to his twitter page to comment on the decision.
He made a post parodying the show's theme tune, saying: “Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sex-with-me Street? (sic)”
