Label and charitable organisation THE Factory Foundation Recordings, DEDICATED TO the late MR. Tony Wilson, will release two EPs from Silverclub and Suzuki Method on 27th September 2010 TO KICK-START A UK WIDE LABEL LAUNCH INCLUDING DATES WITH BBC INTRODUCING IN MANCHESTER AND LIVE VENUES ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
The soon to be released four track EP from Silverclub comes with a seal of approval from John Bramwell, recent Mercury Music Prize nominee, I Am Kloot:
“Silverclub’s got Bowie, it’s got Beck, it’s got talking heads, it’s really brilliant. I’ve got a new rival”.
Strong words from a talented man predicting at a bright future for Silverclub’s Duncan Edward Jones as he releases a taster of material from the forthcoming album. “All In All” EP shows the culmination of Jones’ controversial move from techno DJ heavy weight, aka DCDN, to live act front man. These four tracks showcase his knack for pop hooks and that dance floor fillers have not left his repertoire now the decks have been replaced by guitars.
Supporting some of the highest quality new music in the UK today, BBC Introducing describe Factory Foundation Recordings’ second signing, Suzuki Method as:
“Vibrant and refreshing, toe-tapping thrills… as brooding as they are bouncy and twice as addictive”
This explains a loyal local following already queuing up to buy copies of the band’s debut EP. The band meld together their love of 80s and 90s punk and new-wave with more recent French and Austrian Electro sounds to the delight of the discerning gig-goers who won’t be disappointed with the band’s self-titled release.
Standing out from the crowd in the music industry landscape The Factory Foundation Recordings has been created to break new music, made in (Greater) Manchester while supporting local musicians and bands emulating the original Factory Records DIY ethos and spirit. 50% of Factory Foundation Recordings sales, after costs, go directly to support The Factory Foundation’s award-winning work with children and young people across Greater Manchester. The Foundation’s enables young people to get into training, work and the creative industries; a vital source of support during the difficult employment market many young people now face.
The remaining 50% of record sales go directly to the artist and artists retain 50% ownership of their music for life. In traditional Factory style, the artists are still “free to f*ck off” as they only contract release to release with the label.
The Factory Foundation and Recordings founder Esther O’Callaghan, who was awarded an OBE for her extensive voluntary work both in Manchester and across the UK, commented on the “very Factory” decision to launch two releases simultaneously:
“From a live perspective both bands sound great together so it was a good opportunity to launch the label too – if I am sending one record to press, I figured I might as well send two – and throw in a UK tour for good measure!”
To celebrate the releases, for Factory Foundation Recordings and The Factory Foundation’s new project, two pre-release parties will be held, firstly in Manchester at No Future Club, The Ruby Lounge, Friday 17th September 2010 and in London on Wednesday 23 September 2010 at LOCKSTOCK, Camden. Both bands will perform alongside an eclectic line-up at each event, and the events will be followed by a full UK tour…
