In just three years Liverpool Sound City has established itself as the UK’s most creative and innovative city centre event. LSC combines an international perspective on the best in new music, art, film, photography, business, new tech, media and more in one of the world’s most legendary music cities. Bringing the best and brightest to their hometown to discuss what’s at the cutting edge of popular culture, LSC looks to provide a fresh look at the future by challenging the conventional and constantly striving to discover the new – all while showcasing some of the best new music on the planet.
Liverpool Sound City unites globally renowned creative thinkers and home-grown innovators, living legends and music’s future faces to create an intellectually inspiring and artistically liberating three days and nights: with cultural enrichment, mental stimulation and hedonistic abandon to the fore.
Widely revered for bringing an incredibly diverse array of new acts and global stars to Liverpool including – Delphic, Laura Marling, Paloma Faith, The Maccabees, Four Tet, Deerhunter, White Lies, Noah and The Whale, Holy Fuck, Santigold, Cage the Elephant, Florence and the Machine, Gil Scott Heron, The Wombats, Metronomy, Little Boots, Enter Shikari, The Zutons, Wild Beasts, Crystal Castles, Everything Everything, Clinic and White Denim – and returns in May 2011 to set the standard even higher.
The first wave of acts for 2011 will be announced on November 1st. Once again expect the unexpected as Sound City endeavour to bring the best of zeitgeist talent from all over the world.
For 2011, there will be no ticketed gigs at all and for the first time the entire festival will be wristband only. Sales have already smashed all expectations and continue to fly with the price just £20 for three days and nights. You can also still purchase the Super Early Bird Full Delegate pass for £99 for a limited time only also.
As well as providing good times, good ideas and good people helping the creative industry to grow and evolve is an integral part of LSC’s ethos, with networking, education and skills development a central part of the main event. Whilst continuing to spearhead the city’s vibrant creative scene, there is a huge emphasis to encourage development and investment for regional, national and international companies and enterprise, providing the practical help to go along with the theoretical inspiration enabling delegates to further build on the symbiotic links between artists, business and the consumer themselves.
LSC’s founder, David Pichilingi, explains that, “Our plan is to continue making the festival a world-class event whilst we build upon developing Liverpool’s stature as a place to come and do exciting business. Already this year Sound City has been responsible for generating over £5 million in returns for the UK music business economy.”
May 2011 will see LSC consolidate its status as one of the most talked about and respected new festivals in the world. LSC has a unique vision all of its own as it strives to make the Northwest a cultural and business epicentre, to encourage investment from the international scene and to take forward Liverpool’s rich musical and creative history.
