The Notting Hill Arts Club, in conjunction with The Finnish Institute, Turku 2011 and Music Export Finland, presents a night of the Finnish musical zeitgeist.
SHINE 2009 represent the new breed of Finnish bands pushing the musical envelope. Their debut London gig promises edgy beats coupled with hazy atmospherics.
On their debut – the Associates EP, released on Cascine – they condense a summer’s worth of unadulterated joy into four sublime tracks. All infused with their modern take on the Balearic sound, this is glacial pop to soothe the darkest corners of your mind.
On this night they will be joined by Jimi Tenor, Jori Hulkonen and Esko Routamaa, who have been defining the modern sound of Finland for over a decade. Each plough their own musical furrow without fuss or bravado, gaining the respect of music lovers the world over.
