Dreadzone, one of the UK's best live acts, have announced details of a massive autumn/winter tour.
They will bring the sounds of their critically acclaimed recent album Eye On The Horizon, alongside classic hits such as Little Britain and Captain Dread to 27 towns and cities across the UK throughout October, November and December 2010.
The Dreadzone story began back in 1980s in West London with the fall out that came after the legendary Clash split. Mick Jones recruited Greg Dread (Drums) and Leo Williams (Bass) as the rhythm section of his new band, Big Audio Dynamite. When B.A.D went their separate ways, Greg and Leo formed Dreadzone and have never looked back.
Alan McGee's Creation Records released Dreadzone's groundbreaking debut 360, which led to them supporting Oasis at their era-defining shows at Knebworth and Loch Lomond. Their follow-up, the seminal Second Light, brought Dreadzone well and truly into the limelight and received massive support from John Peel, who included the album in his top ten favourite albums of all time, and 6 of it’s tracks in his 1995 festive fifty. It also spawned a top 20 hit Little Britain which has since gone on to acquire cult status worldwide.
15 years, 6 albums, hundreds of festival performances and thousands of gigs later, Dreadzone are still going strong, and still receiving critical acclaim for their groundbreaking albums and live performances. Their recently released album Eye On The Horizon received extensive positive coverage worldwide, with Rock N Reel magazine declaring it “A minor modern masterpiece”, and The Sun declaring that the band's “Fire brand mix of dace energised dub still has power”.
Dreadzone are Greg Dread, original bassmaster Leo Williams, the unmistakable MC Spee, legendary Studio One vocalist Earl 16 alongside Chris Compton on guitar and Chris Oldfield on technology.
Having remixed Dreadzone’s most recent single Yeah Man (which received some serious airplay, including Pendulum dropping it as part of their Essential Mix on Radio 1), 2 rising stars in the music scene She Is Danger and Engine-Earz will support Dreadzone on the Eye On The Horizon UK tour.
She Is Danger's self-released debut Hurt You was NME Radio's Single Of The Week, and their remixes of Gorillaz, Groove Armada, Ellie Goulding, and Delphic have earned them spins by the likes of Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank, Annie Nightingale, Eddie Temple Morris, Nic Harcourt, and more.
Engine-Earz Experiment is a UK-based musical collective born out of the Dubstep scene, created by multi-instrumentalist/producer Prashant Mistry. Fans range from Nitin Sawhney and Lisa Gerrard through to Enter Shikari and Basement Jaxx. Prash's recent remixes include the likes of Sean Paul, Basement Jaxx, Skitz, Sway and ODB, and as a DJ he has performed alongside Chase and Status, Shy FX, Caspa, Skream, Rodigan, Rusko, Benga and now Dreadzone to name but a few.
